Placement Trainings & Events



The various departments provide placement oriented training to help the students reach their full potential. The different methods of training enhances the employability skills of the students. These trainings also help the students to develop good aptitude and improve their reasoning and soft skills. Students get a closer look into the industry and its working patterns with the resource persons from different fields. They also get a first-hand experience on the world they are about to enter. As part of the training process various workshops, seminars, aptitude tests and personality development sessions are also organized to help the students prepare in a better way.


Events

  • School of Media & Communication (Multimedia) in Association with DiST Placements & Corporate Relations (DPCR) organized and conducted a session on “How to Attend Interview Effectively?” on 11th November 2022 (Friday) in Room No 504, Mother Theresa Block of DiST from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The resource person was Vivek V.K., Assistant Professor, School of Management, DiST. Students of BA Multimedia 2020 Batch and MA Multimedia 2021 Batch attended the session. Total 19 students attended the session. The welcome address was given by Assistant Professor Bala.P.Vijayaraghavan & vote of thanks was given by Martin Peter of MA Multimedia 2021 Batch.
  • School of Media and Communication (Journalism) in association with University of Salford, Manchaster- UK, organised an academic interaction at 2.30 pm on October 6, 2022. In collaboration with Choice study exchange institute, representatives of University of Salford, Manchester interacted with the media students. Students of Journalism and Multimedia participated in the event. Vice Principal of the college. Rev. Dr. Robin Xavier C addressed the gathering, Dr. Nirmal Jacob welcomed the gathering. Ms. Sara Hadwin, HoD – Journalism and Senior Lecturer explained about the media courses in University of Salford campus.
  • School of Media and Communication (Journalism) in association with 24 News Channel conducted a Placement Drive with media students on October 11, 2022. The event started with a formal function with Dr. Nirmal Jacob welcoming the gathering. Principal Dr. Rev. John Mangalth VC addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to popular news anchor of 24 news channel Ms. Sujaya Parvathy S for visiting the media department for placement drive. Ms. Parvathy S interacted with the media students. The placement drive began around 1pm with the credentials of the candidates being verified, followed by a video interview session which was recorded by the 24 News crew in the DSMAC Studio. Students from MAJMC 20 and MAJMC 21 participated in the event.
  • School of Media and Communication in association with DiST placement Cell DPCR organised a placement training session for MAJMC 20 students on 12th August 2022. The session was led by Mr. Raju Warrier, Assistant Professor, School of Commerce who spoke about the importance of body language and posture during interviews. He explained the dos and don'ts during an interview, and what all should be done before and after attending an interview. Mr. Warrier also spoke about how the right attire is important in the professional field.
  • DiST Job Fair ‘UDHYOG 2K22’ began at 9.00 am at DiST Basketball court on July 2 2022 at 09:00 am. The event began with flash mob by the students of the Dance Club. Inauguration was done by Shri. Roji M John, MLA, Angamaly. Clouds of balloons were released into the air marking the beginning of the auspicious event. It was followed by the message from principal Rev. Dr. John Managalath VC. The Title Sponsor of the event was “Choice International Overseas Educational Experts”. Mr. Shajan Thomas, M D Choice International Overseas education experts delivered the felicitation. Mr. Shobin Thomas, PO Management Department welcomed all candidates and company representatives for UDHYOG 2K22 mega job fair.
  • School of Media and Communication in association with DiST placement Cell DPCR organised a placement training session for MAJMC 20 students on 14th June 2022. The session was led by Ms. Krishne Indhu Mahesh, faculty of Department of Professional Development. It included several aspects of CV and Resume, and how to make it and the main differences between them. PowerPoint presentation on the key points of CV and Resume make up were presented and the importance of CV and Resume preparation while attending an interview were shown to the students. It was an interactive session where all the doubts and inhibitions of students were addressed. Various tips were given to students to improve their confidence for attending interviews and group discussions.
  • School of Media and Communication organised placement training for MAJMC 20 students on 19th May, 2022 and 7th June 2022. The resource person for the event was Ms. Rita Sabu, Faculty, School of English. The session included several aspects one has to keep in mind while attending an interview, the dos and don'ts during an interview, what all should be kept in mind before and after attending an interview etc. were discussed. PowerPoint presentation about various interview techniques was shown to the students. It was an interactive session where all the doubts and inhibitions of students were addressed. Various tips were given by students on how to improve their confidence while attending interviews and group discussions.
